Urja Mitra App: – Urjit Mitra is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to provide information about power outages (power cuts) to Indian electricity consumers through SMS / email/push notifications. Urja Mitra provides outage management and notification platform for disseminating outage information to electricity distribution consumers across India.
The Urja Mitra App has been developed for the Android / iOS platform by the Ministry of Power, India’s Government, under the Urjit Mitra Scheme. Citizens can get information about power cuts related to electricity distribution companies online. URJAMITRA is a beautiful example of cooperative federalism.
Through this mobile app, electricity consumers registered on the “Urjit Mitra App” and “Urjit Mitra Web Portal” are informed through SMS / Email / Push notifications of power outages occurring in their area. This facility has been launched for all citizens with the tagline of “24 * 7 Power for ALL”.

The Ministry of Power, Government of India, has developed the Urja Mitra web portal and Urja Mitra Mobile App to make information related to power outages to the public. RECTPCL develops the Urja Mitra App & Urja Mitra Web Portal (REC Transmission Projects Company Limited), a M / s Rural Electrification Corporation Limited subsidiary.
Urja Mitra is the first application of its kind, a platform to provide information on power outages to power consumers of various state power distribution companies across urban/rural areas across India through SMS / email/push notifications (Web Portal as well as Mobile App).
Urja Mitra Scheme is a step towards India’s Government moving towards Digital India Mission, based on the principle Pro-People Good Governance (P2G2) of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
At present, 53 State Electricity Distribution Corporations of 29 States / Union Territories of the country are connected to Urja Mitra Web Portal. This web portal serves 30 crore electricity consumers of 105000 feeders of 671 circles of these power distribution companies.

How to download Urja Mitra App?
Urja Mitra App, developed by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to provide information related to power cuts to citizens, has been provided with the facility to download from the Urja Mitra web portal’s official website. If any citizen/electricity consumer wants to download Urja Mitra App using Urja Mitra Web Portal, follow the steps given below.
- First of all, visit the official website of Urja Mitra Portal. The home page of the official website of the Urja Mitra web portal will open.
- On the home page, Download Urja Mitra App’s option will appear under the shape of the bulb at the bottom of the Left Sidebar, along with the Icon of Google Play Store & App Store.
- If you want to download the Urja Mitra App for Android Mobile Phone, click on the Icon link of Google Play Store.
- You will be redirected to the Google Play Store as soon as you click on Android’s Icon.
- To download Urja Mitra App, the first login to Google Play Store using User ID & Password.
- After this, click on the Install button. A new window will open. Choose your device / mobile phone where you want to download the Urja Mitra Mobile App. Click on the Continue button.
- A popup message window of Urja Mitra will be installed on your device will appear. Click on the Ok button.
- The Urja Mitra App will be downloaded to the device / mobile you have selected in a short time. All services can be availed online by registering on Urja Mitra.
How to register on Urja Mitra App?
The Ministry of Power has launched the Urja Mitra Scheme, Government of India, to provide information about power cuts to citizens. If a citizen or consumer wants to get a power reduction alert service by Urja Mitra, then registration on Urja Mitra is required. Registration on Urja Mitra is only available on Urja Mitra Mobile App. You can register on the Urja Mitra app only when Discom, which provides electricity in your area, is connected to the Urja Mitra web portal.
If a consumer wants to receive alerts regarding power cuts in his area, follow the steps given below.
- First, visit the official website of Urja Mitra Portal. The home page of the official website of the Urja Mitra web portal will open.
- On the home page, Download Urja Mitra App’s option will appear under the shape of the bulb at the bottom of the Left Sidebar, along with the Icon of Google Play Store & App Store.
- First of all, download the Urja Mitra App on your mobile phone using the Android link.
- The option of Register Your Electricity Account will be visible as soon as the Urja Mitra App is opened. Click on the link for Register Your Electricity Account.
- A new page will open where the option of Register New Electricity Account will appear. Click on this link. The Account Registration Form will open.
- Select State, Discom, Power Feeder (If you Know), Distribution Transformers (Optional) from the drop-down list in the Account Registration Form.
- Fill your Area / Locality / Subdivision in the column given to the Consumer Electricity Account Number and select Notification Medium (SMS / Email / Push Notification).
- Fill in your Mobile Number & Email Address in the given column and click on the Submit button.
- If the power supply company (Discom) in your area is associated with Urja Mitra, then a one-time password will be sent for verification, verifying the information provided by you.
- Fill in the One Time Password in the specified field and click on the Submit button. You will be registered on the Urja Mitra Portal.
- After registration, the notice of power cut in your area will be provided through SMS / Email Notification / Push Notification on the mobile number email ID provided by you.

How to view Power Outage Status on Urja Mitra App/Portal?
If any citizen/electricity consumer wants to see the status of electricity cut by the electricity provider company in their particular area or prescribed power cut using Urja Mitra Web Portal, follow the steps given below.
- First of all, visit the official website of Urja Mitra Portal. The home page of the official website of the Urja Mitra web portal will open.
- An option of “Know Your Outage Status” will appear in the Left Sidebar on the Home Page. Select your state from the state’s drop-down list.
- Select your electricity provider company / Discom from Discom’s Drop Down List. Select your circle from the drop-down list of the circle.
- If you want to get information about scheduled power outages, then click on the Scheduled Outage button.
- A new page of Scheduled Outage will open. Select the dates between which you want to get the predetermined information about the power cut.
- Click on the search button. Based on the information given by you, the information of Scheduled Outage will be shared on your screen by Urja Mitra Portal.
- If you want to get information about the ongoing power cuts, click on the button on Ongoing Outage.
- On clicking on the Ongoing Outage, the details of the current ongoing power cut will be shared by the system on your screen based on the information provided by you.
How to give Feedback / Suggestion on Urja Mitra App/Portal?
If any citizen/electricity consumer wants to give their feedback/suggestions regarding Urja Mitra Web Portal’s service, follow the steps given below.
- First, visit the official website of Urja Mitra Portal. The home page of the official website of the Urja Mitra web portal will open.
- On the Home Page, three lines will appear with the login on the Top Right Side. As soon as you click on these three lines, a Submenu will open.
- Feedback / Suggestion option will appear in the Sub Menu. Click on the link for Feedback / Suggestion.
- Clicking on the link for Feedback / Suggestion will open the Feedback form on your screen. Fill in the Consumer Name, Mobile Number, Email Address in the Feedback Form.
- After this, if you want to give feedback, then choose the option of feedback and if you want to give a suggestion, then choose the option of Suggestion.

Ans: – Text messaging and email alert service is provided only to those Urja Mirta customers who have registered themselves by filling out the outage alert form through Urja Mirta mobile app, and it has already been verified. It is easy and free for any consumer to register a power account on Urjit Mitra. If a person wants to register on Urja Mirta, first of all, they will have to go to the official website of Urja Mirta and download the energy friend mobile app and register through that.

Ans: – For Urja Mirta registration, it is necessary to register in Urja Mirta mobile app, where the details related to your electricity account will have to be filled in the registration form, and it has to be verified. Ans: – Urja Mitra outage alerts are made available through SMS / Email notifications / Push notifications by the Urja Mirta portal.
